How to configure 3 wired WAX630s in a mesh without insight
BR200
GS110TUP
3-WAX630 FW: 9.5.4.6
I have the above devices configured in insight. The WAX630's are cabled to the GS110TUP, the are each root in mesh mode
(not sure if this is correct). I find insight to be clunky and I need to use local and insight to complete the config.
What is the downside of NOT using insight (other than remote management)? What features are NOT available in local mode?
Thanks,
-Kevin

Definitively something wrong with this idea - unless you intend to add more WAC6xx as wireless satellites to these three wired WAX630.

Easy to make it clunky if configuring strange things, like Instant Mesh Root devices without any requirement.

What is Instant Mesh?
One WiFi network. Maximum WiFi expansion. Instant Mesh is the wireless connection between two devices to expand WiFi coverage without the use of cables.
Instant Mesh is ideal in several cases, including nearby rooms where cabling is not available (in range of WiFi reception), rented or temporary spaces, neighboring office building (in range of WiFi), or any situation where you can’t run cables.Instant Mesh can also be used to build a high coverage area and high performance Mesh networks. Up to 4+1 WAC564, WAC540, WAX6xx can be connected in a single Mesh network, easily configurable from Insight (1 [wired] root, 4 [all wireless] extenders).
===What for you need the local config for?
The biggest downside is that you have to manage each device manually, one by one, ...

Kurt,
I'm installing the WAX630's in a three story building. Since each floor has CAT 6 cabling, I think the best way to build this network is to wire the WAX630's. For bandwidth and reliability.
I wasn't clear on what a mesh network was. One of the Netgear T/S folks had me thinking I needed if for fast roaming. Is this true? If I understand your post regarding meshing,I shouldn't use it? There will be no other WAX630's or extenders in this network.
Since this is a small network (and will not grow), I think insight is not necessary and makes this more complicated the it needs to be. Once I know the configureation for the WAX630's I'll save a config with a temp name and IP address. If I need to do a factory reset I can restore the config from my backup, change the name and IP and all should be well.
I'm struggling with this because either T/S doesn't know how or I just cannot understand them, very frustrating.
Any detailed help is appreciated!
-Kevin
