WAX630E slow when managment lan is changed
Wifi speed on the WAX630E slows to around 40mbps on both upload and download when management lan id of the access point is changed. If it is left as 1, speed is normal. Previous access point from a d...

10.2.0.17 didn't fix the issue for me either. Even tried a full reset and reconfig after firmware update.

Hi ivant088
Also we need to know:
- untagged VLAN configuration.
- whether a DHCP server is configured and running in the untagged VLAN in the network.
Also send me via PM your config back up. We will check and revert.
Thanks,
Raghu

WAP management vlan set as non default and tagged. (Unchecked the untagged vlan checkbox)
Static IP for WAP
No DHCP server on management VLAN
- bamhm182Sep 13, 2022TutorMy setup is similar. I have DHCP in my management network, though. Also sent you a DM and opened a ticket.

I did some extensive testing for my support ticket and figured I would share the results here since I was able to eventually configure my AP in a less than ideal state which resulted in fast speeds.
TL;DR: If you set the untagged VLAN on your switch to the management VLAN and permit VLANs you will use for your SSID's, then you factory reset your AP and never touch the untagged or Management VLAN configurations, then configure the SSID's as desired, you should see fast speeds. The downside to this is that you are not able to configure your switch to only use VLAN's on that port and the second port on the AP will drop you into your management VLAN. This is less than ideal, so hopefully this gets resolved soon.
This was most of my email to them:
My testing devices were as follows:
1. Google Pixel
2. Dell Inspirion
3. Acer ChromebookWhile all 3 devices have different OS's and WiFi capabilities, they all reported very similar data. I used the following methods to get speed test results:
1. Speedtest.net
2. LibreSpeed running on a local 10Gbps server with confirmation that there should be no bottleneck, especially not one resulting in 20-60Mbps speeds.I tested in the following configurations, most of the time performing a reboot or factory reset between them:
1. Factory Defaults on AP, switch configured to provide AP and clients IPs in local subnet with no tagging; Fast speeds
2. Only management VLAN changed, switch configured to provide tagged access to Management VLAN for AP and untagged access for clients; Slow speeds
3. Only untagged VLAN disabled, SSID configured with local subnet VLAN, switch configured with untagged VLAN to provide AP access and tagged local VLAN to provide clients access; Slow speeds
4. All default except SSID configured for local VLAN, switch configured so untagged traffic (AP) gets management subnet and clients get local subnet as configured for SSID; Fast speedsFast speeds varied between devices as expected due to differences in supported WiFi capabilities, but slow speeds were consistent across all devices at around 30-60Mbps.
This device is brand new to my network, and I have been having these problems since I first started using it. I have a Netgear WAX610, and have tried configuring them in an identical fashion, testing both to confirm the 610 SSIDs were fast and the 630 SSID were slow, then physically swapping them and confirming that the 610 was still fast and the 630 was still slow.
Through my extensive testing, setting the management or untagged VLAN settings within IP, LAN seem to be the change which results in slow speeds. If these are left default and the port on the switch is configured to accommodate the inability to modify these settings, then desired speeds are achieved. This is a less than ideal configuration since I would like to have my switch only permit tagged traffic and not have a valid default VLAN as I am able to do with my WAX610.
