WBC 502 Client Bridge and DHCP

Problem: Client behind WBC502 configured for Client Bridge mode does not receive an IP address via DHCP

Network topology:

  • Remote client:
    IP camera
    Configured for DHCP
Cat 5 connected to LAN2 on the Client Bridge
  • Client Bridge:
    WBC502 firmware 5.8.4.0.
    Configured in client bridge mode
    DHCP client enabled
Connected to 5Ghz SSID on Access Point
  • Access Point: WAX610 firmware 9.0.1.5
SSID used to connect the Client Bridge has "DHCP Offer Broadcast to Unicast" disabled.
Access point is connected via Cat5 to Router/DHCP server
  • Router/DHCP Server:
    Cisco ISA 500 firmware 1.2.22

Diagnosis

  • DHCP Server logs confirm DHCP handshake between DHCP server and the Client Bridge. The Client Bridge LAN MAC address is issued an IP. The Assigned IP is associated with the Client Bridge MAC address in the DHCP server tables.
  • Client Bridge web management interface is reachable by other machines connected to the router (access point side of the bridge)
  • DHCP Server logs show no DHCP requests from the remote client. The remote client IP does not appear in the Router's DHCP server tables.
  • Remote client, when wired directly to the Router side of the bridge network, receives an IP address from the DHCP server, is reachable from other machines on the LAN, and appears in the DHCP server logs and tables.

I have not tried configuring the remote client for a static IP address behind the client bridge (and adding a reservation for the IP address/MAC address to the DHCP server tables). This is the next thing I will try.

Has anyone experienced similar problems, and if so were you able to get DHCP clients behind a WBC502 client bridge to receive an IP address?

Does anyone have suggestions for other settings to examine, either on the access point or on the client bridge, that may be preventing the remote client from receiving an IP via DHCP from the router on the access point side of the bridge?

Thanks in advance.
