Wireless Access Point control panel not reachable after changing admin password
I am trying to set up a NETGEAR WAC104 AC1200 Dual Band Wireless Access Point and it requires me to change the admin password before I can do anything in the console. The problem is when I do make the...
- Apr 26, 2023No I don't have access to the room the router is in. I am a tenant in the house so I can connect and have admin access to the network but the router is in the landlord's apartment. I came up with a work around using a wifi extender with a network port to connect the ap to. The router/modem is a docsis 3.1 cable modem router(coda-4589). It wasn't quite what I was hoping for but it works.

The WAC104 can be deployed as a wired access point only, and isn't intended as for a wireless bridge configuration.
That's what I thought, but then I saw the RDS bit in the manual.
"The access point can function as a WiFi base station or a WiFi repeater in a WiFi distribution system (WDS)."
But the description is not that clear. And I found that WDS can be a beast to configure.
An alternative would be to use Powerline Ethernet as the Ethernet link to use the WAC104 as a genuine AP.

I will give that a try thanks. When I was looking online I was seeing that my only options were to use a mesh setup or to use a WDS enabled access point though i was looking at a specific setup goal. Since I don't have physical access to the main router (my landlord gave me admin panel access) Based on what ive seen of mesh setups it wont be doable with the older modem/router here. Essentially the whole goal of what I'm trying to do is to wirelessly connect my desktop to my quest 2 vr headset. I can already do this though with the router being on the other side of the house there are a couple walls in between. My hope was originally to plug my desktop into it since it would have a better signal than the wireless network adaptor(the AP is in a much more ideal location) and to wirelessly connect the AP to the headset and router. The main goal to limit the distance and walls and wireless distance between the headset and computer to improve response time and data rate for the headset and the stability for the desktop.
