How do I turn off Armor/Bitdefender on my Orbi Router
I foolishly accepted trying Netgear's Armor by BitDefender on my Orbi Router mesh and it is now blocking long-used very safe sites that I urgently need for my work, yet there is not obvious way to ei...

That option is not available to me, either on Android, iOS or the web portal. There is no option to turn it off. When you click on security, it just takes you to another screen that shows the router, subscription and selected devices. No toggle to turn it off.
edit: ok, restarting the app forced it to appear, what bad clunky design

Toggle off Armor - ms1Oct 15, 2019Aspirant
Orbi is great but for the Armor BitDefender feature. What a nightmare finding the solution to turn it off.

Hi ms1, the link provided on the previous response are the steps on how to disable/turn off the Armor feature. It is also part of the firmware and can't be removed. Once disabled/turned off, the Armor functions should no longer take effect. May we know what issues are you facing with it?

I found the on and off toggle switch for Orbi Armour but when I keep getting an error message saying it is taking too long and times out! I have tried 20 times and same timing out error message---UGH!

Hi BAM2019 . I am not sure what you mean by the on & off switch on the router, but the only way I know of to switch Armor on and off is with the Orbi app on your mobile device, as explained in this Knowledge Base article: How to Enable/Disable Armor .

Right, that is the switch I am referring too, the on/off switch int he ORBI mobile app. It allows you to either enable or disbale Armour from the ORBI router. My problem is that when i use this switch and try to disbale Armour, it deos not seem to be able to do it before I get a timed out error message.
- pizza_pabloJan 13, 2020ApprenticeThis does not work. Your android app proceeds to a blue page with a spinny thing and reads "Disabling NETGEAR Armor." for a couple minutes and then a popup reads "Orbi
Process is taking too long (more than
60 secs), Try again!!"
Selecting the "OK" takes me around the circle, with same results.
I can find no way to disable Armor on my laptop, when logged into the router settings.
THIS IS TERRIBLY AGGRAVATING!- DexterJBJan 14, 2020NETGEAR Moderator
Hi pizza_pablo, does the issue persist on another device? Also, please try clearing the app data and reinstall if the issue will persist. Let us know how it goes.

- pizza_pabloJan 14, 2020ApprenticeI have cleared data from the app. I have uninstalled, then reinstalled the app, with a reboot in between. Same result on Android phone and Android tablet. I get the blue, spinny window and then the fail popup. Screenshots attached.
I could not find how to install the app on a chrome book.
I cannot find the switch for Armor on my windows laptop, when logged into the router I address, connected via ethernet.
I appreciate your attempts to help, but the customer complaints on this thread and the many others are appalling! There is really no excuse for costumers to experience such torment! I'd **bleep**can this system, if it hadn't cost so much!
I agree with others, in the thought that this is purposely installed malware, though I cannot think of a motivation for it.
Dexter, do you work for Netgear or are you a customer?

I am having this exact same issue with mine, it always times out after 60 seconds

.I've attempted this with 2 phones already, a OnePlus 7 Pro and a Pixel 4 XL, to no avail.
I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Orbi App, nothing works.
I just want to REMOVE armor from my life. It is MY mesh system, so Netgear, WTH?

I just kicked yet another star off of the Orbi app in the Google Play Store.
It's incredible how little they care about their clients.
At end of life, Netgear is the one networking manufacturer that will NEVER see my money again.
