NetGear Armor doesn't install on ios like the instuctions tell you.
From my orbi app I selected to install the bit defender on my Ipad. The link arrived and promptly downloaded a .pkg file to the device. This will not work on IOS without manipulating the operating system. IOS devices require installs to come from the App Store. I did go to the app store and find a bit-defender for netgear app. I installed this and it only allow for activation of a vpn. there is no active monitoring of the device and the orbi app doesn't show the Bit-defender software installed. This is almost identical to another post about not showing the program installed, only all the posters there say they installed per the instructions. The normal user can't side load a pkg file on their Ipads, I tried loading other Bit defender product but it is not the Netgear armor variant and wont activate without paying additional. I would like to see the install instructions expanded to show the user how to install it correctly and what they should expect. I have the VPN active and can manually scan the device, but the scan only takes about 20 seconds to complete. This seems a little fast to me, so I am thinking it is only scanning active memory not the installed applications and support files.
If anyone has conquered this, i would appreciate some insight.
Thanks

- JeffgearVirtuosoThe iOS variant of Bitdefender needs to come from the App Store and yes you’ve hit the same bug where Orbi app thinks it’s not running after you’ve installed it. BTW when I go to my iPad in Orbi Devices and click on the Add Bitdefender Security (as it mistakenly thinks it’s not running it!) and then share the link to myself in an iMessage, when clicking that link it does in fact launch the App Store and takes me to the correct variant. My only option here is to open it as it’s already installed. They have this part right despite it thinking it’s never installed and running. I chased NG Support a few days ago and they said they were still working on the iOS issues. Then the Orbi app update came through so I was excited about an impending fix but alas no. I’m not sure what bugs they’ve fixed in Orbi and there are no new features. The Bitdefender app is still 9 months old and I do wonder if the issue is with this side. Patience is a virtue 🙂
- JeffgearVirtuosoBTW - Apple TV, Apple Watch, MacBook and Airport devices all report correctly in the Orbi Security tab, with it also recognising my MacBook as having Bitdefender installed and the others as not requiring it. It’s only iOS devices in the Apple range (iPhones and IPads) that are misreported.
