IPv6 is enabled on both PC’s and disabled on both routers.

R8000 is on firmware version V1.0.4.76 and the nighthawk X48 D7800 is on V1.0.1.66

 

The R8000 is connected to the nighthawk X48 D7800 as its modem. This device is set as a router/modem.

so you're going D7800 (router mode)----->R8000 (router mode)?

It causes a double nat. 

have you tried putting the R8000 in access point mode?

    Hi thanks for the suggestion and it did appear to solve the problem but at the cost of loosing the armour security which was reason for having the R8000 in the first place.

    I tried putting the D7800 into modem only mode but for some reason this lost the internet connection?

    Any other ideas?

      Sadly the D7800 doesn't have armor. 

      What you can try doing is go D7800 (router mode)---->R8000 (in router mode)

      but put the R8000's IP address into the D7800's DMZ.
