How can I turn off 5g if nit needed?

Which Netgear device do you own? AC2300 is not a reliable guide to model number. Many devices come with an AC tag, but it is essentially a label that Netgear, and other brands, attach to hardware to describe wifi speeds.
Look at the label on the device for the model number.

Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware.
Check the section in the manual Specify Basic WiFi Settings or something similar. Not all devices are the same.
