Access 192.168.1.1 Control Panel - Bypass Nighthawk Mobile App

Much like associating an email-based anti-privacy account with your router, the mobile "Nighthawkmare" app is an unnecessary and unwelcome piece of garbage I'd like to avoid. Of course, Netgear does their best to force it on you.

When I go to 192.168.1.1 there's a full page ad for their mobile app. If I click the small link at the bottom "If you don’t have a compatible smartphone, click here" it just takes me to the Netgear website. This is non-sense.

Is there any way to bypass this BS and get to a Control Panel login page, so I can flash the router with some decent open source software?

I'm sure they must have some way they tell their Support team, like some "/something.htm" you can append after "192.168.1.1" or some alternate port, no?

  • Once I've clicked on the link for the "no smartphone option" and went through setup, its always just taken me to the gui login page.

I've never had to reclick it unless I reset the router back to stock.
