I have tried on 3 android devices (2 phones/1 tablet), two of which I downloaded the app from the play store today. They all are the same. I can connect locally with some issues (even though wifi on and device connected the Nighthawk app says it can't find the router, but then after a second or third try it will connect). The access anywhere was working fine until a few days ago, when something happen with the router, and when I re-booted it defaulted to the Netgear Wifi network(not what I had named it), as an open network. I did a factory reset and renamed to the original personal wifi network name using the Nighthawk App.

msbusby Have you tried downgrading the router firmware to the prior version?
In my case, i had exact similar experiences as you on my netgear RAX48 router with the latest firmware update. Couple of days ago, i've downgraded the router to the prior version of the firmware and things are back to normal with Anywhere Access from my Andriod Nighthawk app (latest version).
