Yes, I have been meaning to roll back the firmware, I just haven't gotten around to it yet. I actually thought netgear might address the problem and fix it. :) This has obviously been an issue for months now and they don't seem to be addressing the issue. Or they don't know how to fix it.

From a security perspective would not think it is a good idea to roll back the firmware. This issue needs to be addressed by Netgear immediately in order to avoid even more issues!

Yes. It may be a nuisance to use one of the workarounds for this issue, but at least they don't leave you vulnerable.

Good move for some people.
In you search for a new brand, check its own support forums. First to see if it has one and then to see if its hardware has similar problems. Unlikely, but you don't want to jump out of the frying pan into the fire.
