Cannot Login to Genie App
No matter what I try, I cannot login to the Netgear Genie app either on my phone or on the computer. I always get an error message. This has been occurring since the first update a few months ago. I j...

As most others the Genie app for iOS doesn't work on my device and I receive the same error message about making sure it's not connected to a guest network and disable iPv6. Done and Done! Each time there's a firmware update I instantly go into panic mode because something inevitably will go wrong! I can login through my pc and see my iPhone on the network and NOT the guest network which is disabled anyway. Factory reset is like calling your ISP and having them tell you to power cycle your modem. That's not a resolution! Thanks for the 13 months of an overpriced Netgear R8000! What a disappointment! Time to shop for a brand that's actually functionable!

Since Netgear’s QA team can't be bothered, I'll do their job for them:
Router - R8000
Netgear Genie PC software - Version 2.4.38 (Most current version as of 7/7/17)
Netgear Genie Android app - Version 3.1.28 (Most current version as of 7/7/17)
Firmware version and result:
R8000-V1.0.3.46_1.1.32 = Unable to log into Genie Parental Controls via PC app (not connected to the internet) and unable to log in at all on the Android App
R8000-V1.0.3.46_1.1.25 = Unable to log into Genie Parental Controls via PC app (not connected to the internet) but I am able to log into the Genie app on Android
R8000-V1.0.3.46_1.1.21 = Unable to log into Genie Parental Controls via PC app (not connected to the internet) but I am able to log into the Genie app on Android

In versions .21 I was able to access parental controls via Network map and they actually worked, in version .32 it appears to work in the Genie app, but no blocking actually takes place and when you refresh the Genie app they read as they were before the block or filtering modification. In version .25 I would try and block or modify something in the Network Map and it would just tell me my password failed (yes, I know I put in the PW properly) I also noticed that the network map failed to load my labels for my devices after I refreshed the map.
Summary:
So I guess to get almost full functionality back to Administrate my network via the PC app or the Android app it means I have to roll back my firmware by what I can only assume is a year or so. In which these firmware updates likely addressed several very notable and major security flaws that we've probably read about in the news.
So I have 2 options really:
1. have a working router with the ability to actually administrate it but in turn leaves my network open to some extremely critical vulnerabilities that every script kiddie in the world is still using just trying to find unpatched routers like mine
or
2. Have a router that is relatively updated and secure but I'm totally crippled in my ability to administrate my network the way I was told (advertisments & on-box claims)
Netgear, I hate to tell you.. but this is starting to smell like a class action lawsuit in the making! You better get off your a$$ and make something happen, because 6+ months of worthless moderators giving worthless canned responses and total inaction by your developers for a flagship product is how that happens!
