can't log in to Netgear Genie router R6300 Smart Wifi router Model: R6300v2

R6300 Smart Wifi Router Model: R6300v2 and apple laptop with Netgear Genie. I have a router as described and I have an apple laptop. I can go to routerlogin.net and was/am able to view my router. But when I use the app "Netgear Genie" and I try to log in it does not allow me to. Admin is already in place and can't be changed and when I put in the password "password" I get the message login or password is incorrect. Any Ideas?
