CAX80, Nighthawk App. is the "speed test" run locally from the router?

Is the Speedtest in the night hawk app run Locally on the router or is it run through the router over the wifi to my phone? what if im logged in remotely and run the test?

 

Trying to sort out a speed issue and need to know if its wifi issue or modem issue...

    App us run thru the CAX while using your mobile device. 

    Compare results with a different device.

    Also test with Ooklas installable speed test app on a wire connected PC as well.

      I am unclear on this response given. Is the Speed test (when initiated from the android app) originating from the phone via the app (i.e. my home network 192.168.blah.blah, or is the cable modem / router the origination point for this test (from the public assigned outword facing IP address?)
