Just in case this was't done, ensure your router (double check it's a R8000, not e.g. a R8000P, https://www.netgear.com/support/product/r8000.aspx) has the current firmware in place.
Please add for completeness the Nighthawk App version number, and your router firmware version to this thread.
Looks like we're facing yet one more Nighthawk App incompatibility Christian_R ChristineT .
