fake_udp
I just upgraded to El Capitan and Little Snitch suddenly and continually asks me for permission to connect to fake_udp on port 55. This seems to occur only when my Netgear Genie program is running. ...
So I just got the netgear NightHawk X6 - AC3200 and I'm questioning what this fake UDP thing is all about. It has my Little Snitch going crazy. I allowed it for now, but I want to know what the purpose of this program is. Please message me so that you can put my mind at ease. Fake UDP just sounds ominous.
I don't know where fake_udp is coming from. I just used little snitch to block the query's untill they stopped. I didn't see them on my iMac (older machine) but they did appear on my new laptop at the time. I went out of the country for a couple of weeks with my laptop and the fake_udp query's did not come back. It might be harmless but don't really know or understand the purpose of the fake_udp. It could be a developer test device software routine. Good luck!
