I have seen suggestions about trying an older version of the Netgear Genie.

Hi gadingan26,
We are currently investigating this issue with some Windows 10 devices. You may use the previous version of NETGEAR Genie using the download link below.

Come on Netgear I can see my Nighthawk 6700 finding it's way in the local rubish heap. Based upon post warrenty support I wouldn't give Netgear a 1/2 star rating. I had a belkin router and thought I was up grading. I was sure fooled by Netgear and and Costco.
Genie won't work on windows 10 I can get online but I can't control it through genie. I was told when I bought it last March this is the best router out there.
Maybe it was now with Windows 10 they are the worst!!!!!!!! The only person I'd recommend a Netgear product to the Chinese maybe it would slow them down in hacking into the worlds systems

Did you read, and try the advice of, the post a few above yours from DexterJB? Maybe the older version of the Genie will work for you.
I do not use Netgear Genie, if you mean the standalone program, to control things. I use the web interface and my browser.

when i diagnose the genie application, it says that the genie is incompatable with windows 10 x64
i also have the app with my Iphone, so i can still have control there, but i'd like it to run on my computer again

Did you try using the previous version of the Netgear Genie?
DexterJB posted a link earlier on in this discussion:

Look for another message in there from DexterJB with a possible workaround to get the new version of Netgear Genie to work in Windows 10:
