Yes, the WNDR3400v2 does support the NETGEAR Genie app but is not among the supported devices for the Remote Login feature. The link below indicates the supported models.

Thanks Dexter, but I am unable to use this feature due to it not being supported on this model of router. Unless you have another solution I am stuck !

I was able to turn on the remote access through the regular web management interface, and I was also able to use the provided remote access https address in my web browser. So my router does support remote access, but it seems that the "genie" version isn't able to.
