I have had my WNDR4300 router for almost 3 years and it works great! I now have a need to put parental controls on it with two teenagers and found out this morning during my research that I need to ...

Hi randylaw,
Did you perform a factory reset after the firmware update? If not, I suggest doing so then reconfigure the router. You may refer to the link below for the steps.

Hi Dexter,
Thanks for the fast reply. I just performed a factory reset per your provided instructions. Unfortunately I am still seeing the exact same error message from Genie when attempting to access the parental controls. Any ideas on other things to try?
Thanks!

Hi randylaw,
1. Have you tried using another device (another computer, smartphone, tablet)?
2. Re-install the NETGEAR Genie program on the computer.

So everything seems to involve resetting, resetting and reinstalling.
Can't it just work? The Genie is defective. I've read SO many posts all over online about issues. Most of us got this router to filter content for our kids, but OpenDNS does not work via the Genie for the parental bypass, so you end up cutting most everything off to yourself, or just leaving it all open.
We spent 3 hours on the phone and they said it WAS a softeware issue. Can we get it fixed? I've been jerked around waiting for the software fix that NOW I am stuck with this rock because I've exceeded my return window with Amazon on the empty assurances that a fix is just around the corner. I didn't even get a response to my ticket when I responded back.
WTH?
