I have Verizon fios and I was wondering get if I could use the new Genie router to make my wireless speeds faster. I don't know if you can use a router with a cable modem, or if net gear has something...

Most, if not all, NETGEAR routers work with Verizon FiOS modems or modem-router's so that should not be an issue. If you are not getting your subscribed speed from your ISP's device then I recommend contacting them and make sure everything is fine on their end and on your device.
