GSM4328S 10G Support
Hello Everyone,
I have to pitch a customer netgear model that support 10G ethernet Switch.. But i have doubt that it support 10G with CAT6A with 90 mtrs??
I have seen other vendors details also, but there are not suggesting to go above 30 mtrs with copper...
So Netgear support or not..?
Please help..
Regards,
Jasmeet

Hello Jasmeet,
You are mixing different facts here.
- Standards compliant 10GBASE-T switch ports are able to drive 100 meters on CAT6A (or better) copper links.
- Standards compliant 10GBASE-T switch ports might be workable ~55 meters on CAT6 (your mileage might vary), I'm not suggesting this usage.
- Standards compliant 10GBASE-T switch ports might be workable up to some ~30 meters on CAT5E (not suggested, your mileage might vary highly), I'd sugsest to avoid this if possible.
- SFP+ plugged 10GBASE-T transciever modules can support limited reach only - this is because of the SFP/SFP+ specs does not offer enough power for driving the full reach, this is where again ~30 meters (CAT6A or better suggested) are coming from.
This is about it.
