that "netgear site" is actually a domain that points to your router, so you won't have to type 192.168.1.1

Like microchip8 said, there is no "Netgear site" involved in this.
What you are doing is using a short cut that, as microchip8 said, bypasses the need to type stuff like 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 into your browser. (Netgear has used both in the past.)
Those are addresses for the router on your local network. They'll work even if you unplug the Internet.
Using www.routerlogin.net just makes it easier.

Oh, and do not confuse the router's password with the wifi passwords. They are not the same thing.
