I buy a second hand R6700v3 router, but I can't use remote access

Hi:

I buy a second hand R6700v3 router on Ebay, but on the Nighthawk app I can turn on remote access due to there is a message that the router was registered with other account.

How can I be able to register the router under my account?  I got invoice of the purchase and I can send a picture of the reouter info.

What are you doing when you see this message?

There are different types of registration. The most common is on MyNetgear. That is for the free 90 days support after purchase and warranty coverage. These don't apply to second hand devices.

Remote access needs a different sort of registration so that you can use the Netgear Cloud to connect to your router from the outside world.

You have hit the reason why some of us believe that it is not correct to say that there is no link between "registration" and other features.

The use of "Remote Management" requires you to have an OpenDNS account and then to connect, or "register", your router to that.

If you are trying to use "Remote Management", ReadyCLOUD or "Parental Controls Center", try going through the process with the browser graphical user interface (GUI). This should prompt you to create an OpenDNS account.
