Thanks Dexter for your follow up. But still having the issue. I reset my NETGEAR GENIE WIFI Router and setup a NEW SSID name and WPA password and still no issues. There MUST Be some incompatibility with my Linux 17 OS and using a NETGEAR WNDA3100 USB wifi adapter becuase it DOES CONNECT TO MY NEIGHBORS WIFI and they are using Centurylink Prism. The USB Wifif adater is fine meaning that I have used is usccessfully on my wifi network when used witha Windows 10 PC so I know the adapter is good.
On my newly built Linux 17 PC, it see my wifi network and prompts for a password, I enter it correctly and it goes away and then prompts me again. weird

Okay, its been resolved but still weird:
After taking off SECURITY on my wifi, I could SUCCESSFULLY Connect my son's linux 17 machine but did not want to leave my network unsecured so I created a GUEST network and left it open while re-securing my wifi network.
But the strange thing is that my neighbors wifif was ALSO SECURED and I was able to connect to it from my son's linux machine ( I knew the wifi password)!!!
but I am okay with this setup. thx
