Netgear app is crap
I just want to reconnect a scanner to my network. I've spent about two hours chasing Netgear's helpfully circular links to try to reset my admin password- the biometric marker apparently just record...

1. what router do you have?
2. what firmware is on it?
3. what modem/gateway is it connected to?
4. you shouldn't need to log into the app/router to connect a wireless device to it. You can do it with the ssid/password

Thank you for responding. I wasn't hoping for advice, just venting.
I've been trying to connect an ancient HP all-in-one that we use for scanning.
The router is a Nighthawk X6 AC3200. I can't check anything else about it because the Nighthawk app keeps requiring me to log in to this Netgear account to use the app, and it just doesn't go through. (App on my phone; I'm on my computer.)
I'm trying to connect an HP 3054 all in one, which has two way of connecting to a network- WPS button or by PIN. The Nighthawk X6 does not have a WPS button, and I could not-- during the brief when the Nighthawk app was letting me use it as "admin"-- find any way on the app to enter a PIN code for a device that was trying to join my network.
I think I can get the printer back on line by borrowing a laptop and using a cable to connect it through the laptop, but that's kludgy and really makes this much harder than it should be. On the plus side, the router delivers very a fast connection.

Got in, finally.
Gateway is 24.24.174.96, firmware is v1.0.4.84.

So, I just went to RTFM, and it looks like there is an LED on the top of the router that is a WPS button. Huh. It would have been great if any of the Nighthawk support docs I looked at mentioned that it has a WPS button....
Going to go see if this works...

Let me know if the wps option doesn't work. The manual does go over how to get the wps pin number.

That will probably be your IP address on the internet.
The "gateway" that plemans referred to is the "modem". (The "gateway" word in this context usually means a modem with ither features, like a voice connection.) It might also be an Optical Network Terminator (ONT).
The firmware version isn't much help without the model number. It isn't "Nighthawk X6 AC3200".
AC3200 is not a unique Netgear model number. Some devices come with the AC tag, but it is essentially a label that Netgear, and others, attach to hardware to describe wifi speeds. Netgear has made several routers with that spec and a couple of cable modem/routers. Look for RXXXX.
Look at the label on the device for the Model. And, if there is one, include the "V" bit to show the hardware version. If there is no V number, then you have V1.
