Netgear app says my Gateway offline

- Thank you for your response to my question. My Humax gateway that brings the Fiber Optic into the house is currently set on pass thru mode meaning the gateway handles the modem part the job and the Nighthawk RAXE500 handles the router stuff. I had to go into the GatewayAdminSite and make changes to its set up. It was the only time once ever been able to get into that one. ( I’ve never been able to get into my Netgear routers site). Everything works fine I was just wondering why it says Gateway Modem is offline.

If the Humax really is a gateway (modem/router), as Google seems to confirm, then you have two routers on your network, a recipe for chaos.
Two routers on your network can cause headaches. For example, you can end up with local address problems. Among other things, the other router can misdirect addresses that the Netgear router usually handles, such as routerlogin.net or the usual IP address for a router, 192.168.1.1.
This explains some of the other drawbacks.

Unless you have specific reasons for using two routers – to create two separate networks for example – it is often easier to use just one router and then to set up the second router as a wifi access point. Netgear advises this, as does just about every site you will visit.
It may be possible to put the modem/router into modem only (bridge) mode and then to use the second device as the router. Sometimes it is easier to put the second router into AP mode. But that has its own drawbacks:

The term "Fiber Optic" doesn't mean much. Every Internet service has fibre optic somewhere in the network.
If you get an optical fibre to your front door, and not just to somewhere up the road, this usually comes into an optical network termination (ONT). Many ONTs don't have a router component. So without knowing what your gateway is it is hard to understand why you cannot access the graphical user interface (GUI).
