Netgear Genie Can't Identify Router and I can't use routerlogin.net

This has all started because I want to use the parental controls.   I downloaded the Genie app on my laptop (a windows 10 pc) and ran it....it shows I am connected to the internet, but the programm...

You're Not using Netgear firmware on the router so it won't work.

    So do you think I should upgrade the firmware?  I'm just nervous about making the router unsuable.

       If you want to use NG Apps you'll need to revert to NG FW.

       

       The "unusable" concern Is always a possibility when deciding to use 3rd party Firmware so do you homework and follow the instructions carefully if you decide to revert back to NG firmware.
