Hi leftisthominid,
Does the Access Control feature work fine? It might just be a bug on the Genie Android app.

I block all unknown MAC addresses with access control. My Nexus 6P's correct MAC is included as allowed within access control. My Nexus 6P has no problem connecting to my router. The router itself reports the correct MAC address when I go to routerlogin.net
What is weird is that while Genie reports an incorrect N6P MAC address to my N6P and correct MAC addresses for everything else, when I use Genie on my Nexus 7 (2012), it reports the correct N6P MAC address and the correct N7 MAC address and correct MAC addresses for everything else.
My Nexus 6P runs Nougat 7.0 and my Nexus 7 runs Lollipop 5.1

Hi leftisthominid,
That is indeed odd but it seems that it is isolated. We will have this tested and reported. Please make sure that you have the app up to date in the event of fixes.
