Netgear Genie will not work on my new Windows 10 machine. Closes immedieately

I see no updates or solutions since August 2015.  I have Windows 10.0.10240.16384 and can only get Genie version 2.4.18.0.  All links listed in this discussion go to a dead link.

    I am running Netgear Genie 2.4.20 on Windows 10 Pro 1511.

    I have no trouble launching app. I wish I could stop media server from starting automatically, but for now I just go straight to tab and hit stop button.

    When I exit program from system tray, I am asked "Are you sure you want to exit NETGEAR genie?" I say yes. It used to sometimes stay in system tray. Other time, it would disappear, but remain as background process as seen in Task Manager. It would be gone on reboot.

    A couple times the app suggested a new version was available. I would choose to install, but nothing would change. It would be nice if there were release notes or a change log on the website. 

    I just downloaded most recent file on the website and re-installed without first removing. I had done this before in addition to redirect from app suggesting update available. It appears to be same version. But upon trying the same exit procedure, I did not have anything left.

    Hi all,

     

    You may try the following steps and check if the issue would still persist.

     

    1. Remove the files in the "drivers” folder at C:\Program Files\NETGEAR Genie\bin\drivers and run Genie again. Does it still crash?

    2. Load the old working genie and copy the “drivers” folder under C:\Program Files\NETGEAR Genie\bin and save to desktop for now.

    Re install latest Genie version and replace the driver files shown under C:\Program Files\NETGEAR Genie\bin\drivers with the drivers you saved to desktop. Does it still crash with the old driver set loaded?

    The new link to Netgear Genie v2.4.12 worked perfectly and is now running just fine on my Window 10 OS.  Thank you.

    I tried the step you outlined:

     

    1)  No. It does not crash with the drivers files removed.

     

    2) No. It does not crash with the older driver set copied over.

     

    FYI The installation folder is C:\Program Files (x86)\NETGEAR Genie\
