Super user like the ability to su to root? No way - unless Android or iOS devices are hacked ("rooted") this is not possible. Therefore "normal" Android (or iOS for the sake of it) devices don't have such an App permission class at all.
Will as usual take a moment until the in-line images become visble.
- DarkusRattusAug 02, 2018AspirantWhen you see the app requesting superuser access, you can assume the device is rooted.
I'm getting the same issue today. The app has requested superuser priveledges at least once a minute since it updated. There's no reason it should be requesting these permissions.- schumakuAug 03, 2018Guru - Experienced User
Android does not know anything about a Superuser permission. Don't have the bigger picture on all factors can trigger your rooted device control App to raise the warning. I would imagine Netgear does not use any su or sudo, so a wild guess could be a lazy access to the Android device file system requesting to access or browsing the root file system / in some lazy way.
As standard Android is not affected (all this does not exist or is intentionally and for good reasons prohibited) I'd suggest you to contact ntgrapps_support@netgear.com
