When you see the app requesting superuser access, you can assume the device is rooted.
I'm getting the same issue today. The app has requested superuser priveledges at least once a minute since it updated. There's no reason it should be requesting these permissions.

Android does not know anything about a Superuser permission. Don't have the bigger picture on all factors can trigger your rooted device control App to raise the warning. I would imagine Netgear does not use any su or sudo, so a wild guess could be a lazy access to the Android device file system requesting to access or browsing the root file system / in some lazy way.
As standard Android is not affected (all this does not exist or is intentionally and for good reasons prohibited) I'd suggest you to contact ntgrapps_support@netgear.com
