Don't use crappy apps to set up a router. Not only do they often work sporadically, but they also miss features.
Go with a browser to http://routerlogin.net or http://192.168.1.1 and use the router's Web UI to set it up.

Good advice, but Netgear makes it harder to do this with every "step forward".
You may have to look closely at the screens that pop up and check for any "I don't have a mobile" wording. (I can't remember the exacts text.)
Then rhere are things that simply aren't avaiulable on the browser graphical user interface (GUI), such as Anywhere Access.
