Parental Controls Not Working on R7800

I bought this router (R7800) among others things because it's suppose to have parental controls capabilities.  It turn out however, that the Nighthawk app no longer supports Parental Controls and set...

Hi andrew-b, welcome to the community! The R7800 does support LPC (Live Parental Controls) via the desktop Genie app. On the router web UI, please make sure that the DNS values are set to 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220. Also, there are instances wherein the filtering may not immediately take effect since it needs to sync with the OpenDNS servers.

DexterJB thank you for confirming that LPC is still supported. So the ubiquitous questions again:

 

  • Why does enabling LPC on the Genie not automatically set the DNS servers right?
  • How can the users adjust the various devices LPC levels (as Genie can't be used on iOS or Android with these routers anymore)?
  • How can the users access the LPC/OpenDNS bypass account (as Genie can't be used on iOS or Android with these routers anymore)?
  • Does the R7800 (and other routers with legacy LPC support) still have the required OpenDNS dynamic updater in place?

Look, we simply can't stop asking this before Netger does add the LPC Parental Support to the Nighthawk App.
