Not sure this is a Nighthawk App issue - much more an interoperability or router firmware problem.
Double check if the same device cane be paused/unpaused (blocked/unblocked) from the Web based Genie. If this is fine, add the firmware version installed on the router and we have to push this problem to Netgear's awareness for test and fix.
