Ping on new app

Tried the new ping feature and got a rather horrible >150 after multiple attempts.

 

Tried the Ookla app and got my usual <15 on multiple devices

 

App says it's 'Powered by Ookla'

 

What gives? What is the app doing that Ookla isn't or vice versa?

    Haven't spotted a ping application yet - probably because of my (supposedly) leading edge Nightawk R9000 does not have it yet. I would expect that the ping is done like the performance test direct from the router to the Internet. Would you mind to provide screenshots from the Nighthawk App Ping test application and it's (?) Help screen please?
