R8000 New firmware 1.0.3.36_1.1.25 And iPad Genie
I just updated the firmware on my R8000 to 1.0.3.36 (from 1.0.3.32_1.1.21) and now I can no longer access my R8000 from the iPad Genie. I am told my router is not supported.
I have rebooted router - no luck, I have checked I have the latest iPad Genie - I have the latest. I then fell back to 1.0.3.32_1.1.21 and the iPad Genie works fine (I can login etc).
I then updated the firmware to 1.0.3.36_1.1.25 and once again I cannot login - the R8000 is not supported.
The Windows Genie works with both versions of the firmware.
Any suggestions on how the get the iPad Genie to work with 1.0.3.36_1.1.25 would be most appreciated. In the interim I am falling back to 1.0.3.32_1.1.21.
Thaks

This isn't always necessary for updates, but it is certainly something you should try if you experience problems.
I assume that you have already told your iPad Genie to forget the old wifi link and tried to create it from scratch.

Thank you for the suggestions. i tried resetting the router to factory defaults without success and then told my iPad to forget all wifi links to the router and then created 3 links (one on each band) and tried each of them to access the iPad Genie without success.
The router works fine with both 1.0.3.32 and 1.0.3.36 firmware, it connects to the internet, all fixed mappings are correct, all port mappings are correct and on my iPad all apps (eg App Store updating,Google Maps, internet banking ) work correcly. The only thing that does not seem to work with 1.0.3.36 is the Netgear iPad Genie - it won't allow me to login
Hi,
I have the similar issue. Although if I turned off the router, wait 30 seconds, turned it back on. I am able to connect using the Genie once, for a few minutes, than stopped working again.
This also applied to Android and Windows version of Genie.
I tried to restore to default, etc, no luck.
Although using the web interface to log on to the router is fine. Sadly is, I need the parental control, and that can only access through Genie, not sure why this is the case.
After I reversed back to the previous version of firmware, everything is back to "normal". I am still have trouble getting the iPad version to see my router has the parental control turned on. But the Windows version is fine.
It is the firmware problem!!
Thanks.
- Art_UroTutorI have the same problem with Android and Windows in Genie.
After upgrading to version V1.0.3.36 of the R8000, I lost the Genie login to the router and I can not manage its parental control in genie neither from windows nor android.
After several tests, I have restored firmware version V1.0.3.32 and everything works normally again.
If I reinstall the firmware V1.0.3.36 genie fails again.
I have decided to leave the old version V1.0.3.32 until Netgear solve this error in the firmware or genie.
Thank you very much- TechhieAspirant
I also have the same problem. Although I've only tried this with the Windows Genie, I get the same results as everyone above. Rolling back to the V1.0.3.32 fixes the problem. Hopefully, they are aware of this issue so they can fix it with the next firmware upgrade. I'm keeping a copy of the older version just in case they don't though.
Yup, same issue here, whether I use my S8 or my 7 plus.
Netgear sure is sloppy with firmware for this router, it has received very little support, considering it was a flagship.
