I attempt speed test with the app often. Its hit or miss and I'm curious if it's my router having inconsistent connectivity because the router is going out OR if it's my modem/ISP.

I also recommend the ethernet cord approach. I do both modem and router to see how they compare. Not a fix, but a work around. Also keep a manual log in excel of speeds.

Are you talking the netgear app? A standalone like Ookla?
Wired will always be faster/more reliable than wireless. It doesn't have interference or nearly the network overhead.&nbsp;
