Set Up Guest WiFi on the Nighthawk and Orbi App

Anyone who has ever had guests in their home has certainly heard these words before, “What’s your WiFi password?” While it may seem harmless to allow guests on your main network, it can do more harm in more ways that you can imagine. Once your guest has logged onto your network, it’s safe to say you aren’t monitoring everything they’re doing online. In the event their device is already infected, or they accidentally download a malicious program while on your network, there is a chance your local network and all of the devices connected becomes exposed.

So how do you try to combat this? Set up a Guest WiFi network! With the Nighthawk and Orbi App, it only takes a few simples steps. A Guest WiFi network essentially creates a separate access point on your router, so that your guests can still access the Internet, but not at the expense of compromising your main network and all its data.

To set up Guest WiFi. follow these simple steps:

(NOTE: the screenshots below are from the Nighthawk App, but are the same steps for the Orbi App)

  1. Open the Nighthawk or Orbi App and select the Guest WiFi tile
  2. Select the Guest WiFi band that you would like to turn on and set up
  3. After enabling Guest WiFi, you can create a Network Name/SSID and set up your Guest WiFi Password. From here you can Share WiFi via QR Code, select a Time Period of how long you want Guest WiFi enabled, and choose a Security Method.
  4. Click Save

Why should the average users have to think about 2.4 or 5 GHz - this is complete dated approach ... why is there no simple option to "just" enable (and disable) the Guest WLAN? I'm convined that the majority of the Nighthawk App and Orbi App users could not care less.

  • just bought it for Amazon just find who to contact to get service ....Also have the sim card aswell...
