Trouble setting up parental controls on netgear genie

I have just downloaded the netgear genie app on my iPad.  I have a netgear router from Optus.  When I try to set up parental contrals, it allows me to register a new DNS account, but when logging in, it tells me the router is not connected to the internet (even though it is). Please help.

      Hi Lindyloo,

       

      1. What is the exact model number and firmware version of your device?

      2. have you tried using another device?

      3. Usually, devices provided by ISP's have modified firmware that may not work with the Genie app.

        Hi Dexter,

         

        Thank you for your reply.  I have since found out that by logging on using the netgear router login website (192...), I don't have the problems with access, so it may not have been a router problem afterall.  However, I tried to follow the instructions I found on the internet for setting up a time schedule on a particular device, but it is not working.  I used my phone as a test subject, but following the instructions, it seems like I am not linking the device to the schedule.  And so nothing happened at the specified time.  Do you have a set of instructions I could follow?
