Trying to connect through the nighthawk app

Im trying to set up my nighthawk AX6 router/modem and on my isp side everything is good and xfinity says they are connected to the netgear. But when i try to initialize through the netgear app it tells me that im conne ted to netgear04 and i instead need to be connected to netgear04 any help with how to fix this?

  • Are you trying to set this thing up for the first time?

It might help if you told people what the modem is in front of this router, if there is one. The make and model number could be useful. Is it, by any chance, also a router, with a set of LAN ports on the back?

The reason for asking is that a lot of people turn up here trying to put a router behind a modem that is also a router. That can complicate troubleshooting.

Which Netgear device is this? AX6 is not a reliable guide to model number.

Many devices come with an AX tag, but it is essentially a label that Netgear, and other brands, attach to hardware to describe wifi speeds.

Look at the label on the device for the model number.

    Visit the support pages:

    Support | NETGEAR

Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware.

That page will also have any software, firmware and drivers for your device, if they exist.

Begin with the Quick Start/Installation Guide.

There may also be some helpful videos on what to do.

You may have done that already. I can't tell from your message.

I mention it because Netgear gave up on supplying paper manuals and CD versions some years ago and people sometimes miss the downloads.

You do not have to use an app to set up a router. Many of us won't go anywhere near them.
