Unable to connect to the Nighthawk app
Hello, I am currently using the AC3200 WiFi Cable Modem Router (C7800). I want to connect to the Nighthawk app but it seems as if there’s a bug on the app and it says the firmware needs to be updat...

I am on the latest version of the Nighthawk app on iOS and I've tried the app on both my iPhone and iPad and I get the same error regarding needing to update firmware.
I am using a 3rd party streaming app on my Firestick and my iPad. The streaming app works well on my iPad when I am not connected to my home Wi-Fi network. The moment I connect to my Wi-Fi network, the app no longer works and it just has that little round thing where it buffers and nothing ever shows up.
And the 3rd party app on my Firestick, it also just loads and it tries to log in and it fails and it says "please check your server address, username, and password."
I have contacted the creator for the 3rd party app and they said other people have had that problem as well and they were able to fix it by changing security settings on their ISP provider website and/or their Nighthawk app and making sure I didn't have a "VPN" on. He says this issue randomly happens without the user toggling anything.
I have checked my settings on router-login and I see no security set up or change, to my understanding. And again, I have never turned on or changed anything on my end to have something like this happen.

Thanks for the details. It might help someone to home in on the problem.
But there are still questions. Take this:

The "latest version" claims are infamously inaccurate with Netgear's firmware. That can also apply to the apps which roll out as and when Netgear and Apple see fit. My Android Nighthawk aoo is V 2.35.0.3631.
Then there is this:

Which security setting do they have in mind? WiFi? Something else.
Anyone using an iOS or Mac device should check this:
NETGEAR Mobile Applications and Apple Devices FAQ - NETGEAR Communities
That's one of several security settings to check.
Never used anything from Apple so I am just guessing.

The developer for the 3rd party app says it could be that my hardware randomly blocked the app. He said other people have had this issue too and have had to unblock whatever it was that was blocking it through the Nighthawk app which unfortunately I have no access to because of the "firmware update" glitch and it won't let me proceed. My understanding, and PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong, I would be able to see if something was blocked on the Netgear Genie (router login page) and the same things would reflect on the nighthawk app (if i had it) as well, right?

Where did the Netgear genie come from?
The "genie" could be one of several things, the browser interface, a Windows or Mac program for a PC, or a mobile Android/iThing app. Netgear labels them all as genies. Which are you using?
The genie app and its replacement, the Nighthawk app, are not the best places to check the settings on your modem/router. It is better to use a web browser and the graphical user interface (GUI).
This will let you look at things like the router's logs for signs of what the C7800 is doing.
You might find more in the section where they talk about your hardware:

We still don't know what this 3rd party app is. If it has caused issues for other people, a search of this place might find similar discussions.
