Unable to log in to my account

I have an iPad (iPadOS 17.1.2) with Neatgear App 2.31.0.195 (last one).

For my login, I selected a specific ID (not "admin" as suggested by default).

Now with these last versions it's impossible to change "admin" by something else, and I can't login. Is there a solution or is it an app bull**bleep**?

  • Which "account" does your subject refer to?

From the rest of the message, I assume that it is the Nighthawk app.

Admin has always been the "username" for using a web browser to access the graphical user interface (GUI) of any device. There has never been the opportunity to change that.

Maybe it was something else that you changed.

The GUI is the main, and preferred, way of getting into a device's controls with a browser.

Apps are just a simplified way of getting into the GUI. They use a two-step process – it starts with getting into the wifi and then asks you to login to the device – that process also involves the login details for Anywhere Access.

By the way, users of Apple devices need to look out for this glitch:

Samsung also has this as an option, as does Windows, but Apple has led the way in imposing this security "improvement" on unwitting users.

It's correct, my issue is about Nighthawk app.

I checked in my saved username/pwd table and I confirm I changed "admin" by another one.

So, I don't know how it was possible, but I did it.

Since 2020, I have been using them without any problem.

What should be your best proposal to solve that? New account?...

I still do not understand where this happens.

To use the app, there are two login steps after you connect to the wifi, which has its own login.

The two steps involve logging into Netgear's cloud service. That's often the same  credential that you use for MyNetgear.

Then you log into the graphical user interface (GUI).

You can test that last bit of the process without going anywhere near the app. Just log into the GUI from a browser on a PC.

        This needs the same credentials.

You can then confirm if you really have changed the admin username. That would be a first. "How do I change admin?" is a constant request here. "You can't" is the usual answer.

You haven't told us what Netgear device you are trying to use, but one way to get back to the original is, of course, a reset of the router.
