Recent membership auto-renew issues for MC227
March 14, 2025
I am wondering if anyone has experienced recent problems with their auto-renew for their Meural. While checking the community posts, I saw some from 2019. I’ve had my Meural Canvas (2nd generation, MC227) for about 7 years and have never had a problem with auto-renewing my subscription. I’ve also benefited from great tech support when needed.
In order by date, emails received:
January.24, 2025
Received a renewal notice via email stating my subscription will renew on February 22, 2025 at $49.95. I checked my online account and confirmed my credit card info was up to date.

Renewal Notice stating subscription is all set to renew on February 22 at $49.95.

Received a questionable email asking that I update my payment information because my payment could not be processed. Contacted Netgear and received assistance from the customer care department. A case number was assigned. I was assured that my credit card was fine and that my payment subscription was up to date.
Before communicating with customer care, I’d attempted to update my credit card payment information multiple times on the website using two different credit cards and received messages stating my banks had declined payment.

Received an email asking for a screenshot of Mar. 3 email that I’d received from Netgear on March 3. I provided via email. I was assured on the phone that my subscription renewal was processing.

Received an email asking me to update my payment information because payment could not be processed for my subscription. I attempted to update the payment info with a different credit card online….again unsuccessfully….message stating bank had declined payment.

Received an email stating my Meural annual subscription was suspended. Reached out to customer care again.

Received email stating a new support case was started and will be reviewed.

Received another email stating they understood I wished to update my payment information. However, upon checking my annual membership, they see my membership has already expired due to an error in renewal payment. I was advised to purchase the contract again using a new payment method.

I received a response to an email I sent stating that this renewal problem isn’t my fault and I didn’t understand why I now had to pay $69.95 for a new contract. I was advised that since my subscription had already expired and the contract price has changed since then, the option to reactivate the previous contract isn’t possible.
I was offered a price match. When I purchase a new contact at the new price, a refund for the difference will be processed.

In response to my email asking if I simply go ahead and purchase a new subscription online and asking if there is a difference between the old and new contract, I was advised to go ahead and purchase the Meural contract again. A refund will be processed. I was provided a link to contract information. In order to see if there are any differences, I guess I need to find my original paperwork.

This morning I decided to go ahead and purchase a new Meural contract. I logged in to my existing account online, clicked on the link to purchase, entered my credit card information using the same card that apparently couldn’t process my renewal in February, and Voila! I received an order confirmation for a new annual membership. I will see how quickly a refund is processed.
Received an email welcoming me to Meural with a new renewal date of March 13, 2026.
I apologize for the length of this post but felt it was necessary to clearly explain my frustration. Has anyone experienced similar renewal issues? I feel as though the only reason this happened to me was because Netgear wished to charge the new annual membership fee. Yes, they agreed to process a refund but this mess shouldn’t have happened. And no one will admit this is not my fault.
