How to set Canvas light sensitivity to a custom value via http
As many users before me have complained I find the Canvas' auto adjustment to ambient light levels to be very unsatisfactory. One clear bug is the fact that if you cycle through different light levels and go back to the initial one, the display will end up being brighter than it was at the beginning. This is not an issue with the light sensor because its reading is actually reproducible, but should be attributed to a poorly designed and/or buggy adjustment algorithm.
Looking for a solution I found a Home Assistant integration that is able to set the light sensitivity of the Canvas to any value in the range 0–100. There it is suggested that a value of 2 is an optimal setting, with the display never being too bright. Incidentally, the lowest of three fixed levels that can be set in the mobile application is 4 (Low sensitivity).
I also learned that the Canvas runs a local web server that can be used to issue commands from a local browser. For instance, brightness can be set very easily by simply knowing the IP address of your Canvas. However, I couldn't find an http command for setting light sensitivity. My question here is whether anyone knows if such a command exists. Thanks.
