Meural cloud useless?
Can Netgear provide clarity on how the cloud storage and onboard storage work? More specifically, how they work (or don't work) together?
If I am limited to the onboard 4GB to show works and schedule playlists, what is the point of the cloud storage? My assumption is that the Meural would dynamically move works (or playlists) on and off the onboard storage as need. Or the Meural would use the onboard 4GB as a buffer to load in whatever playlists are meant to display / scheduled.
I would makes sense to me that the scheduler would show all my playlists (not just the ones "on my Meural") allowing me to pick from anything uploaded or added to my cloud account. In the background, Meural cloud services would figure out when it would need to dump previous playlists and works according to the desired schedule. There are numerous similar examples of library cloud management services from Apple TV, Audible, Steam, etc. How is it that one of the largest network and cloud solution technology company is behind the times?

- JeffgearVirtuosoThe mode of operation with caching and syncing you’re describing between cloud and local canvas storage sounds like a great feature. It would be worth suggesting this to Meural. Also having a clear description of the differences and limitations between the cloud and local storage would be really helpful.

Hello Jeffgear,
Thank you for your post!
When photos are uploaded to a playlist they are automatically sent to the Meural cloud which will use cloud storage. When the photos that have been uploaded to the Meural cloud are sent to the Meural Canvas then those photos will begin using the local storage. Also, local storage will be used when the media is sent directly to the Meural Canvas instead of being uploaded to the Meural cloud.

I understand how the cloud currently works. Essentially, larger storage via the cloud, and that is it. Its basically a proprietary image storage with no further integration into the Meural ecosystem. The device itself; the act of viewing art and photos on the Canvas II is impressive and stunning. However, the promise of a untethered modern living technological wall art is not realized.
Why isn't the cloud leveraged to stream to the Canvas?
Why isn't the local 4GB used to buffer and dynamically pull from the cloud playlists and cloud based scheduling?
Why can't the local storage be expanded, using a SD card, and utilize the currently limited functionally of local scheduling? (Currently to use the SD card, it is a completely separate pipeline and workflow)
Implementing any one of the above suggestions would greatly improve and further realize the promise of the Meural. As it currently stands, though I have 14GB in the cloud; my canvas is reliant on the local 4GB storage. This means, I am only able to schedule playlists that are already uploaded to the local storage. The process to change out the playlists and remove works already on the canvas is a manual operation and completely separate from scheduling.
In an attempt to work within the limitations of the so called Meural ecosystem, I cleared out my local storage and planned on manually changing my playlists from time to time. I quickly discovered there is no indication of the size of a playlist. If I add two playlists using up 2.5GB locally, and then try to add another that is larger then the remaining 1.5GB, the canvas tells me it is full. There is no way to know the size of a playlist. There is no way in the UI to "split" or "duplicate" a playlist in order to manage its size.
Again, this adds to the Meural cloud storage and "ecosystem" being mediocre at best, overall frustrating and mostly useless. These limitations and lack of innovation place the Meural in the same uninspired and stagnate category shared with the nifty digital picture frame I gave my grandmother 10 years ago.
Is there a development roadmap that includes updates that will actually integrate the Meural Canvas with the Meural Cloud in a meaningful way?
