Same issues. I have a couple of these. When changing the wifi password the screen went into noman's land .. sorry.. "no-person's...i don't want to get canceled here.
My support is expired, i do not have confidence if i pay for support it will get solved so...I pretty much have two frames that display a purple screen.
I will keep them up for the ho;idays as conversation pieces when neighbors come over :)
*Yes I followed the NetGear instructions..

The only way I got support was by posting @MeetMeural on Twitter. That didn't actually get support, but they DID ask for contact info and the opportunity to schedule a call. Good luck!
