Thank you for your assistance.
Once you figured out from my incoherent ramblings, what I actually needed, you sent me this link: MR80 / MS80 Firmware Version 1.1.7.14 - NETGEAR Support
This was a site not visible to me at the online support. It was easier then.
The Zip files were the same: MR80-V1.1.7.14_3.1.109.zip and MS80-V1.1.7.14_3.1.109.zip I had but there was more information at: https://www.netgear.com/support/product/MK83.aspx#docs, where I could select the topic Troubleshooting and find at the top of page 2: the article labeled NETGEAR Connected Home Products FAQ. Now once in here I then found WiFi Routers and in the pull down menu found: How do I update the firmware on my NETGEAR router with a web browser?. This is where things began to click, and I could swear a new upload button appeared at the bottom! I know it didn’t, but I sure missed it 12 or 20 times.
Everything is up and working wonderfully including a guest account, wired units and wireless. We have optimum 500 Mbps / 20Mbps and Ookla is testing at 506 to 517 down and 20 plus up. I am verry happy. Thank you.
Now, were do I go to rate you 5 stars?

ok, sorry, i am new to this and appreciate your time and efforts to assist me.
The MR80 is nighthawk mesh wifi 6 router mr80 and from the router software firmware V1.1.7.12_3.1.108 and gui V1.1.7.12_2.1.46.1.
When I enter that I go to the same download zips. So I still try. Same result.

Tried to update the firmware. from V1.1.7.12_3.1.108 to V1.1.7.14_3.1.109.
As instructed, downloaded ms and mr zips. under admin, i selected router update, tried to let the update populate the screen. auto update said no newer version. Tried to manualy update ms first. found the ms unzipped file and began the manual upload. "wrong file". I was on the wired connection I am trying to up date so I moved to a wireless and tried again. No good. Just not having fun from the begining.

Wired is best.
If you have downloaded the firmware, you don't need an Internet connection to update firmware.
Visit the support pages:
Support | NETGEAR
Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware.
Check the section in the manual Manually update satellite firmware

Asus pop up? Where does that come from?
What modem/gateway/ONT connects the MS80 to the Internet?

What do you mean "press the ms80 chk file for 14".
I ask because people, usually Mac users, click on the chk file. (For Windows that has a special meaning that has nothing to do with firmware.)
What you are supposed to do it use a web browser and the graphical user interface (GUI) to start the update process. Then you browse to where the file is and load its.
Is this what you mean by 14?
