Mesh system with existing router?

I'm considering getting the MK63 — Nighthawk Mesh WiFi 6 System for my house. I've never used mesh systems and not too familiar with them. I recently bought a Nighthawk AC3200 Cable Modem/Router (model C7800).

From what I'm seeing on the mesh system(s), there is one node that is the router and the rest are satellites. Does that mean that fancy new router I bought just a few months ago is obsolete now?

Or is there perhaps a way of using the existing router and using router mesh node as another satellite (or something similar)?

  • I have just bought the MR60 Mesh network with 2 remotes and I have the same issue.

With AT&T U-Verse I HAVE to use their DSL moden/Router and am wondering what the best way to configure both routers would be.

    Hello kingtermite & Tony_A,

You will need to set your Nighthawk mesh system into access point mode for it to be compatible with your existing router.
