MK62 wifi and wired connection issues

Question

I have MK62 connected to Verizon FIOs ONT. The satellite is connected wirelessly.

Recently, a computer connected through a switch to the MR60 could not get a connection, probably could not get an ip and/or dns information. Bypassing the switch, restarting the MR60, or restarting the FIOs ONT did not seem to help. I believe the computer was also rebooted. All the while, wifi connections to the cell phones seems to be working. The problem seems to clear on its own overnight.

Today, a cellphone connected via WIFI seems to lose network connection, seems on 5Ghz through the satellite, for a minute each time for several times, disrupting google voice calls.

The MR/MS firmware seems up to date since long time ago.

Any advices on tracking down the problem?

A known problem is that the MK62 does not support older (e.g. 2012 version) WIFI clients but netgear ex6150 can bridge them. Hope MK devices can get firmware updates supporting the older WIFI clients.

what modem/gateway do you ohave from verizon? They aren't known for just having ont's. they tend to have gateways that cause a double nat.&nbsp;

The armored fiber from outside went into a box, which seems connected via a smaller fiber to a NOKIA branded device, which provided IP and phone connections. My MR60 connects to its IP port directly and is then chained to a netgear switch GS105 for wired connections.

Not sure what model the NOKIA box is. It looks the same as a "Nokia 3FE52343APAA Optical Modem Verizon" selling on ebay right now at https://www.ebay.com/itm/186327504752

The label showed 4p92 besides the UL symbol, P/N 3FE52343APAA, ICS 01, and my device shows MRev 03, MFG: month 01, year 2021, G-211M-C, etc.

The NIGHTHAWK app (app version 2.44.0.4515)n reports both MR60 and MS60 with Firmware Version v1.1.7.134.&nbsp;The app reports the laptop is connected to the MR60, not showing information about the switch between the laptop and MR60.&nbsp;It is observed that both wired and wireless connection taking quite long to set up the internet connection when it can.&nbsp; Before Windows 11 pro report the laptop is on the internet, it does not have the ip address, dns address, the connection lease, etc.&nbsp; &nbsp;To be accurate, the wireless connection is to a Verizon router connected to the same switch - the laptop's (old) wireless card do not detect the MK2 wireless network, a known issue.&nbsp; Does Windows 11 Pro contribute to the slow or failed network connection initialization?&nbsp;Thanks,&nbsp;

The switch will be invisible. It is just a dumb bit of wire. The router shows the connections.

What is that doing in there? plemans asked you about the ONT. Adding another router to the network is the same as slapping a modem/router in with the MR60. You end up with the dreaded "double NAT" configuration.

Two routers on your network can cause headaches. For example, you can end up with local problems with addresses on your network. Among other things, the other router can misdirect traffic to addresses that the Netgear router usually handles, such as routerlogin.net or the usual default IP address for a router, 192.168.1.1.

It is&nbsp; not surprising that you see strange things happening. The symptoms you describe are classic double NAT gotchas..

If you really need the Verizon router in there, it should be easy to put it into access point (AP) mode. Then the MR60 does the heavy lifting.
