MK63-100NAS
In reviewing the user manual for the MK63-100NAS (well actually it downloads the manual for the MK62_UM_EN) I see that it says: On your computer or WiFi device, find and select the WiFi network. ...

Sorry here is the attachment of the user with the SSID renaming problem I failed to attach to my message above.

Firmware bug? With "Smart Connect" enabled, the router should be
using the same SSID for both radios, so you should not be able to choose
a different one for the 5GHz radio. But I'd expect it to display that
same SSID for both radios, too.
My first question would be whether the wrong SSID is being used, or
only displayed on the web page. (Wrong either way, of course.)

I rest my case.

"Technicolor"? "Hitron"? I've heard of a Hitron CGNM-2250, which is
a "Gateway" (modem+router), but, I'd guess, would have a modem-only
mode. Having an accurate model number can help when seeking info.

Ok.

Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and
look for Documentation. Get the User Manual (ay least). Read. Look
for "Change the LAN TCP/IP settings". (My D7000[v1] is set to use
"10.0.0.*", for faster typing, for example.)

Sounds plausible. (What could go wrong?)

Because so much of this conversation relates to the meshiness of an
MK63, and not to the fundamentals of modems, routers, WAPs, and so on?
And the readership of that forum and this are disjoint?

Good Point

Probably those are more advanced than Spectrum will want to give me for my anicipated 400 Gbps connection, so I'll probably end up with an ARRIS CM8200 or CM8300 which will likely be good enough.

I changed my mind about the MK63, and purchased an Orbi
RBK753S-100NAS yesterday to lessen the chances I will be disappointed.>> [...] What I am hoping to do is to configure the MK63 to use the IP

Hahaha! Right what could go wrong! Well I did look for documentation as you suggested and got the user manual for the MK63, and it does seem to let you change those settings ... now I will look for the Orbi RBK753S-100NAS Manual.
Actually though, now have decided to replace my TIme Capsule/Router (which Apple advises is nearing the end of it's service life) with a Western Digital My Cloud Network Attached Storage and use that with Time Machine to maintain reliabiliy of my backups and eliminate the IP addressing and double nat issue.

I'll keep trying.
Thanks for your help!
